If there was really a holodeck like the one from Star Trek, don't you think people would never leave it?

This is more about the nature of people. If there was really something that could perfectly simulate any situation we could think of, and it was indistinguishable from real life, I believe many would be compelled to spend all of their time in some fantasy land. If I had my choice, I think I'd spend all of my time on a Yacht during a perpetual orgy, and I'd probably have a ps3.
