Can I use a 10 gal Terrarium for my Crested Gecko?

I have a 10 gallon terrarium that I used to use for fish. I know a crested gecko would prefer one that goes vertical instead of horizontal. Its a foot and 1/2 tall though. Im just wondering if it would be okay. If not, I suppose I could turn it on its side and get a locking lid. I havent had any luck finding one. If anyone can link me to a place that sells them, it would be appreciated.
