Is this too many fish for a 29 gallon aquarium?

I am trying to figure out what's best for my 29 gallon aquarium as it cycles. I was thinking maybe a shoal of 10 Tiger Barbs and 1 Black Convict Cichlids. I would love to have this set up, the only problem is, is I don't know if they'll all get along I'm thinking they will as both of them are somewhat aggressive fish. I would love to have 1 big fish (Convict Cichlid) and many smaller fish (Tiger Barbs). I think this simulates what it's like in real life. What are your thoughts?
