Which tool used to detect an intruder for a simulated network?

My project is "intrusion detection for simulated network attacks".help me by giving a tool I can use to simulate an intruder on my simulated network and a tool I can use to detect that intruder on my simulated network which is built using GNS3 with Vmware.
