Ok I'm scared about my palate expander?

So I might be on Americas got talent for singing but I'm getting a palate expander is there a way to get rid of the lisp you get cause I hear you get one and I have been singing with a piece of gum on the roof of my mouth to simulate having the expander in and I can't sing HELP
